The Christmas program includes dinner, Christmas activities and gifts for each child. The Martin de Porres Society of Savannah began in 1985 with a vision from our founders, Dr. George and Mrs. Yolanda Negron, to host an Annual Christmas Dinner and Festival at Benedictine Military School for 100 children and their families from underserved communities in Savannah. Through this effort they wanted to strengthen parent and child relationships and to share the transformative love of God. Our local public and parochial school staff and community agencies played an integral role in identifying our families and providing additional supportive services. The event consisted of a special Christmas program to include dinner, music presented by our local public and private school choirs, greetings from our city and county representatives, special presentations from the extraordinaire Magic “Marc” Dunston and of course, our special guest, Santa Clause, who brought much joy thorough gift bags given to each child. Additional fun activities were provided on the grounds of Benedictine. This annual event was sponsored by the Society for more than fifteen years at Benedictine. Our program expanded their efforts in 2000 to include boxes of groceries, gift items and winter scarfs and hat sets in partnership with our local and parochial schools, community and faith-based organizations. The support of our many longtime volunteers and supporters helped to make Christmas Blessings quite successful and much appreciative by the families that we serve. This year we continue the vision started 40 years ago and welcome your support through your tax-deductible contributions or through your sponsorship of one or more families. Click here to donate by November 28, 2025. We appreciate your support and encourage you to give soon to help brighten our families holiday!
