In Proverbs 22:6, we’re told to “Train up a child in the way he should go, And when he is old, he will not depart from it.” This is the mission of the Martin de Porres Society. Guided by the teachings of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, and the example set by patron saint, Martin de Porres, we serve the educational, social and emotional needs of children and families from underserved communities in Savannah, GA. through various programs such as: Camp Lighthouse, Leaders In Training Mentoring (LIT), Back to School Initiatives and Christmas Blessings. We won’t stop until each child has the resources they need to become happy and healthy adults.

Founded in 1986 by longtime Landings residents and club members, the late Dr. George Negron and his late wife, Yolanda Negron, the Martin de Porres Society is a 501 (c)(3) organization guided by the teachings of Christ and inspired by Martin de Porres, a dedicated patron saint. Today their legacy to help underserved children in the Savannah area is continued by their daughter, Maria Gabriella Verwiel and her family, Landings residents since 1984.
